INTRODUCTION
Rather than start with the books themselves, I've decided to start thinking about our local kids, and work with local issues regarding railroads.
The five brief introductory articles will be as follows:
1. Kansas City / Union Station and the USA rail-passenger center;
2. Coal / commerce and the intersecting of power and
goods right here!
3. Strang-Line and the founding of the first gas-electric locomotive;
4. Classification Yards, with Kansas City having one of the biggest in the USA;
5. The ASB bridge.
All five (of the earlier articles) have as their goal the idea to motivate the student to see the relevance, significance, technological improvisation, and problem-solving necessary to ... live!
The books themselves has as their goals brief introductory write-ups on a certain topic, and assignments for the student.
