The great 20th century mathematician Morris Kline is well known for his amazing works on math history and pedagogy.

With an intense interest in mathematical history, pedagogy, and application, Morris Kline was, to me, the most prodigious mathematics professor in the 20th century. 'Mathematical Thought From Ancient to Modern Times', 'Why Johnny Can't Add', 'Mathematics and the Physical World', and 'Mathematics and the Search for Knowledge' are but a few of the tremendous works authored by Kline. Were volume alone a criteria for greatness, he stands alone. But more impressive than volume was the content, the focus, the drive, the joy with which each of these books shouts to the reader. Nature and the world is screaming to be understood, and it is mathematics that can - and should - lead the charge! Though he passed away in 1992, the message he left behind is an inspiring one. A clarion call? You bet!

This presentation will review his life, his works, and his inspiring message to all mathematicians to understand the world about us.
